SO pleased with this. Have been able to take professional looking shots on my own. Seriously easy to use. Love the manual zoom. And the shutter speed is GREAT. Especially following around my 4 year old. Taking good pics can be a challenge b/c they are always moving. Now I can take a bunch at one time and sort through them later. No waiting for an auto focus and then the flash that inevitably makes them blink! Ive only tried out the auto-shoot mode and cant believe how "smart" it is! Ive done daytime night time indoor & outdoor pics and cant believe the QUALITY of the pictures no matter what environment. Couldnt be more pleased with the value of my Nikon D3000! :2010-09-18 18:30:25 great camera except...   Our specific camera had a problem and seemed to frequently wrongly select the right most auto-focus point. It also had a ton of hot pixels (maybe 80?!?) in the sensor on 30 second long exposures. We had almost elected to keep it anyway (since manual selection of a single auto-focus point seemed like an ok solution) but then we tried the camera out in very low light conditions. This camera (or at least the one we had before we returned it) had terrible noise at high ISO and terrible color in low light conditions. If you will never use over ISO 400 and never take low light wide open aperture 10 second shutter exposures at night it is probably still an excellent choice. I think ours was a rare anomaly with the weird auto-focus problem.
